Star Wars, many have seen it, and many have played the games about them. A couple were good, but most of them were bad. However, this game truly blows away them all easily. This is my very first review, so please bear with me as I'm not one with words.
STORY:
The setting is after a huge war, known as the Mandolarian war, and some of them turned against the republic and joined the sith, which is like an organization for evil jedi. You a fresh recruit and your ship is attacked and destroyed, but you managed to escape with another soldier, and that is how it begins. Your actions will tell how it ends.
GRAPHICS: 10
Bioware didn't skimp on the graphics, as these graphics are some of the best I have ever seen. Characters are rendered nicely, Backgrounds are large and varied, and contain tons of detail. Even the nameless people look pretty detailed. The framerate is nice, and vary rarely has to drop a frame to keep up with the action.
CONTROL: 9
To me, controls make the game. A game really isn't fun unless you have a good control on what is going on. The control seems a bit klutzy at first, but when you get used to it, it is noticeable on how the control really fits into it. Being able to pause in mid-battle will allow you to get a grip on the fight and plan things out, which fans of strategy games will enjoy. People may not like having to input the commands from a menu and would much rather have direct control, but trust me, the combat system is used to it's full potential in this game.
SOUND: 10
Music has always been a strong point in a Star Wars game, and this game doesn't let that standing down. From the opening theme, to the battle theme, the music is great to listen to. Voice acting is great, and the sound effects are as accurate as it will ever be. From laser blasts to the sound of a lightsaber, everything is here for listening pleasures.
GAMEPLAY: 10
Don't let the whole dice rolling thing scare you. It is practically the same thing as in other rpgs, just more specified. The camera angle almost never gets in the way, but having to pause in battle and input commands may frustrate a few people. I like being able to design what my character looks like, but I wish they could allow players to make them more detailed. The choice of being good or evil being influenced by your actions is one of the nicer touches in this game.
RENT OR BUY?
Buy, definitely. However, if you are a bit iffy with the combat, then rent it first and see if you like it (which you probably will). Every X-Box owner should have this game in thier library.
Overall: 10/10
