GameCube <subtitle>Wave Race Blue Storm<subtitle> <content>Wave Race 64 on the aging N64 was a thing of pure beauty. Boasting the best water effects ever seen on a console, it was a game that showed that the Nintendo 64 could out-perform the Playstation any day of the week. Now it?s back, in the form of Blue Storm. Can it make the most of the GameCube?s superior graphical power? Of course it can. Many games have tried to pull off water effectively, but have usually failed, treating the H2O like blue concrete, especially when producing a racing game. Wave Race: Blue Storm is a rarity. Not only is it a Jet Ski racer (you don?t see many of those do you?), but it also has the best water effects to be seen in a game...ever. Watch as your ski bobs up and down on the rippling wet stuff as you await the start of the race. See the rain splatter against the ?camera? as you brave the huge waves caused by a ferocious storm. I could go on about the amazing graphics for days, but I won?t; there is an actual game here, and it happens to be a good one. The many courses are ridden with buoys, which you have to manoeuvre around in the correct manner. If you miss too many, it?s the end of the race, and you are forced to retire. The three difficulty settings change the positioning of the buoys depending on the level, so that it gives the courses more depth. In the Championship mode, the idea is to gain enough points to get through to the next round by placing high in the race. Cleverly, there is a weather forecast and you can chose to play different levels in different weathers, forcing you to be strategic as well as a good racer. The game does become very unforgiving in the later stages and opponents seem to be on your tail all the time. Overall, this is a solid racer that is challenging but ultimately, enjoyable. Highly recommended, even if you don?t like racing games.<content> <rating><rating> <author>Michael Daniels<author> <authoremail>michaeldaniels64@hotmail.com<authoremail> <date> Review<br>Wave Race Blue Storm<subtitle> <content>Wave Race 64 on the aging N64 was a thing of pure beauty.
