Dreamcast Review:
Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2

Well since the early days of the Dreamcast in Japan a game that snagged a
lot of attention was Tokyo Xtreme Racer (Shydoko Highway Battle in Japan).
It looked bad ass and when released sold crazy, fast and has been one of the
Dreamcast best selling games on both sides of the Pacific. So when the
sequel was shown at this years spring TGS I was excited and so were many
others.

Well first off I have already played Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2 in the September
issue of the Official Dreamcast Magazine and let me tell you it kicked ass!
So what new things can you expect? A hell of a lot more improved graphics,
more baddies, and more than one track!

One of the first things you'll notice is a better look. The cars now have
real time lighting and the textures are a lot smoother a give the game a
more realistic feel. I did notice though that the low FPS still were there
when more than 3 cars were on screen! Hopefully this problem will be fixed
before the actually release.

The game retain the same control scheme as the original. But you now have
way more cars to choose from and way more flexibility in customization in
your cars. Which the original was very flexible but this is ungodly. You can
change almost any thing you want and tweak all the engine components.

So there you have it plenty of new stuff and lots of the old. What I was
able to play was damn good and the game gets everything that was good with
the first and makes it better! Expect it to hit shelves in Sept-Oct.
