Ahh, aren't perfect Arcade translations great? NFL Blitz 2000 looks and plays just as good as it did in the arcade, the only difference is that it's under 50 bucks.

NFL Blitz 2000 has some nice additions that make it worthwhile. It offers customizable offensive and defensive plays to your liking and even offers audible before the snap. NFL Blitz 2000 also allows your team to “catch fire.” This is done by making awesome plays. On offense, you must make your receiver catch three passes in a row. When this happens, your players acquire unlimited turbo and get a major boost in strength. To “catch fire” on defense you must sack the Q.B. two times in row, making your defensive team faster and tougher to score on.

Graphics: Easily the best looking Blitz 2000, I can't see the PC looking this good. The game is at a hefty high resolution and plays at a frantic pace, and there is zero slow-down. The load times are minimum and I didn't notice any graphical glitches at all, and being arcade perfect I wasn't expecting anything less.

Control: I am annoyed by the Dreamcast controller, the L and R buttons seemed to be inconveniently located, and the 4 main buttons need to be a bit bigger. If I could, I would swap the Dreamcast Controller with a Nintendo64 one in a heartbeat. Luckily, only 3 buttons are involved while playing Blitz 2000, so memorizing the moves won't take regular players too long to figure out.

Sound: Midway brought back the classic halftime and ending music that was inherent in the original Blitz to Blitz 2000 for Dreamcast and it sounds better than ever. And being on CD, you're going to experience some full-motion video during the intro and some great NFL highlight footage. The corny commentator is back with all his obnoxious metaphors.

Final Call: It's arcade perfect, so if you liked it there, you will love it on Dreamcast.

The Good:
+ Fast Gameplay
+ Arcade perfect (High Resolution)
+ No slow-down
+ New animations and celebrations
+ Create your own plays
+ Load times are kept to a minimum

The Bad:

- The analog stick takes some practice getting used to while playing Blitz, keep practicing.
