Verona Kickstarter Campaign Launched
Prior Games, a group consisting of veterans that were involved in the development of games such as The Witcher 2, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Sine Mora, and more, have recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for Verona. Verona is a science-fiction video game inspired by both William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet and Joss Whedon's Firefly T.V. series.
The Earth is falling into the sun, and most of the privileged members of society have already fled the planet to live in outer space colonies, leaving behind millions of others. Mercenary thieves known as Extractors return to Earth in order to find abandoned riches such as fine art, iconic artifacts, and historic landmarks, for the wealthy. They occasionally cross paths with the Global Traffic Department, nicknamed the Chevrons, which is a quasi-police force responsible for legal extraction and professional evacuation control. The two forces also have to contend with the survivors left on Earth, since every survivor wants to get off the planet.
Players will experience the stories of two particular individuals: the first individual is an Extractor, and the second individual is the daughter of a prominent Chevron. How the two meet and their ultimate fates are left in the hands of the players. Their story is modified in real-time based on player actions and choices.
The game will consist of five episodes in Season One, with each episode taking between forty-five minutes to sixty minutes to complete. The entire Season One game is estimated to be between ten to fifteen hours long if players explore mission branches and aim for 100% completion. The game will be single player only and it will be released for Windows PC, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases available as stretch goals.
