Several New Announcements from Nintendo

Nintendo has recently made a series of announcements of upcoming games for the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS.

There will be a free app released on the Wii U known as Animal Crossing Plaza. This app will provide players to interact with each other using the Animal Crossing Miiverse community. Players can import images they took in the Nintendo 3DS game Animal Crossing: New Leaf as well as custom QR codes for other players to scan. Players can also select their favorite animals in the app to post about them or see posts about them. This app will continue to run until the end of 2014.

Pokemon Rumble U will be released on the Wii U on August 29, 2013 in the Nintendo eShop. As with the previous games in the Pokemon Rumble series, players take control of toy versions of Pokemon and pit them against each other. Players will be able to take control of all 649 Pokemon that have appeared throughout the core games. The game will also feature a password system that will allow players to unlock special Pokemon; certain passwords will be shared through Nintendo’s Facebook and Twitter account, the game’s official website, and other channels.

The Year of Luigi continues with several announcements about the man in green. Luigi has been confirmed to be a playable character in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. games for the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS. Rayman Legends will also feature a Luigi costume for Globox along with a Mario costume for Rayman, as well as several stages from the previously released Rayman Origins game.

Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, the final game in the second Professor Layton trilogy, will be released sometime in 2014. On a related note, the crossover game Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney will also be arriving sometime in early 2014.

Some new information has also been released on the story of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. A key point in the game is that the hero Link will be traversing two worlds. One world has the iconic Triforce in it, while the logo of the game suggests that the other world may have its own version of the Triforce. The game will take place after the events of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past; fans will find certain scenery to be quite familiar while also enjoying new dungeons and puzzles. The game will be released sometime in November 2013.
