New Information on Fire Emblem Awakening Revealed

Some new information on the upcoming Nintendo 3DS game Fire Emblem: Awakening has been recently revealed.

Fire Emblem: Awakening is the latest addition to the Fire Emblem series and features Chrom, prince of Ylisse, who leads a band of soldiers known as the Shepherds charged with defending the borders of Ylisse. Chrom meets an amnesiac individual known to the players as the Avatar, a completely customizable character that serves as the audience surrogate and an invaluable ally to Chrom as the tale goes on.

Fire Emblem: Awakening features paid-for downloadable content that include characters from previous Fire Emblem games, maps, and even stories. The first downloadable map will be free for a limited time after the game is released. More DLC will be released regularly and players with a broadband Internet connection will be able to access these features with the Outrealm Gate in the game.

The game will also feature SpotPass and StreetPass content. SpotPass content will include secret characters while StreetPass allows players to form a team that will appear in other players’ games. Players can recruit other team leaders with gold, buy weapons and items, or challenge the team to a fight in order to win the team leader’s allegiance for free.

Fire Emblem: Awakening is set to arrive in the U.S. on February 4, 2013.
