Ed Boon - "Get Over Here!" - San Diego Comic Con 2013 Panel

Plans for the second season include making Legay more "amped up" and brutal including fatalities. New characters to the Mortal Kombat: Legacy series include Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Blind Kenshi, and Ermac. They were unable to get Jeri Ryan back as Sony Blade because of scheduling conflicts, but may include her in Season 3. Goro will also make his debut. They played a trailer for Mortal Kombat: Legacy Season 2. (Spoilers Ahead)
IGN Editor Jim McMahon described the trailer that was shown:

The clip began with Johnny Cage fighting Mileena, who winds up pinning him to a tree before Kitana interrupts and the sisters proceed to have a knock-down, drag out battle. It ends with a spectacular death-by-fan as Kitana chops off Mileena's head right at the scar.

Tancharoen states, "In Legacy, we've tried to interject a lot of the interweaving characters' arcs, the biggest being the back-story of Scorpion and Sub-Zero and just how deep their history goes," he said. "There's also the complicated history between the two sisters Kitana and Mileena and then Liu Kang and Kung Lao and how they grew apart."

The budget for Season 2 has also been increased for special effects. Also, the actors have been given more time to prepare for the fight sequences. Samantha Jo states, "The quality and the brutality is so much improved in the second season."

"That last one we did sold four or five million copies so I'd be surprised if we never did another one," said Ed Boon. "After 20 years this game is still entertaining people. That's a lot of staying power."

Season 2 will premiere online on Machinima in Fall 2013. The final date has not been announced as of yet. It was mentioned that it will be sometime in September 2013.
