Hitman Announced to be an Episodic Game

Io-Interactive has recently announced that the upcoming Hitman game will be an episodic game. Players will perform hits on high-profile targets, with contracts taking place in locations all around the world.

"We decided to take the full leap and publish Hitman as a truly episodic game experience," says Hannes Seifert, the Head of Studio at Io-Interactive. "Part of that decision is for that little bit of extra time to ensure every location we release is at the quality level fitting for a Hitman game. But the main driving reason is that this will allow us to create a living game that will expand and evolve over time and establish a foundation for the future - this is the first game in a storyline which will continue and expand with future Hitman games."

On March 11, 2016, the prologue mission and a Paris location will be released. The second location, Italy, will be released in April, and the third location, Morocco, will be released in May. After the third release, Hitman will have monthly content updates, releasing missions that take place in Thailand, the United States, and Japan. There will also be weekly live events and additional planned content in between the monthly updates.

An Intro Pack containing the Prologue and Paris levels will be available for $15. Each subsequent location will be priced at $10 as an add-on to the Intro Pack. Players can also purchase all content for $60; the Full Experience purchase will contain all of this year's content as it is released, so players will not need to worry about missing out on any content. The disc version of Hitman will be shipped at the end of 2016.

Hitman will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. PlayStation 4 players will gain access to the Sarajevo Six: six bonus contracts, one for each location, where Agent 47 pursues members of a paramilitary unit called CICADA.

The Hitman beta starts on February 12 for the PlayStation 4 and February 19 for the PC. Players that want to sign up for the beta can do so by preordering the Full Experience or the Intro Pack.
