Fire Emblem Fates Released Today
Fire Emblem Fates, the latest entry in the Fire Emblem franchise, has been released in North America today for the Nintendo 3DS. The game is available in two versions: Birthright and Conquest.
Fire Emblem Fates is a story about two kingdoms in conflict. The kingdom of Hoshido is a peace-loving kingdom, while Nohr is a glory-seeking kingdom whose king seeks to conquer the land. Caught in the middle of this conflict is a young royal, born in the Hoshido royal family but abducted and raised in Nohr. When the conflict between Hoshido and Nohr escalates, the young royal will need to choose whether or not they wish to defend Hoshido or fight alongside Nohr.
Players who buy Birthright will fight for Hoshido, while players who buy Conquest will fight for Nohr. Players that buy one route can download the other as DLC for a reduced price.
A third route, titled Revelations, will be released on March 10, 2016 as DLC. This route will have the protagonist refuse to choose between Hoshido and Nohr, and it will feature a new story dedicated to rooting out the deeper mysteries presented in the other two routes.
Fire Emblem Fates will also have bonuses that are unlocked by amiibos. Players with a Marth, Ike, Lucina, or Robin amiibo can unlock bonus chapters that allow them to recruit said characters. Special weapons and accessories can also be unlocked as well.
