Commodore Founder Jack Tramiel Dies at 83
Jack Tramiel, the founder of Commodore International, passed away on Sunday April 8, 2012 at the age of 83 with his family by his side.
What started as a typewriter repair business transformed into a calculator business and later into a business in the computer industry. The Commodore 64 launched in 1982 and became the best-selling personal computer of all time. Tramiel was forced out of the company he founded in 1984 and bought Atari's Consumer Division, forming Atari Corporation.
