38 Studios lays off its entire staff
Late last week, employees of 38 Studios, founded by Major League Baseball pitcher, Curt Schilling, received an email notifying them that the entire staff were being laid off due to financial problems. The company was unable to pay its employees and this has lead to the entire staff, of 307 workers from Rhode Island, as well as 106 employs from Maryland, to become unemployed. There is a minor possibility that an investor will help 38 Studios get back on its feet, but at this stage it seems unlikely.
38 Studios released its first game in February of this year, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, to a generally positive reception.
