The Walking Dead Pinball Interview

with Jody Dankberg, Director of Marketing and Licensing at Stern Pinball

What was it like working on the Star Trek pinball and working with Karl Urban?
Karl is a great actor and avid pinball fan. He was tremendous to work with in both marketing the game and adding great color with his custom speech work.

How many Star Trek pinball machines were created?
As a private company we do not give out sales numbers. The Star Trek machine is available in three three editions: pro, premium and limited edition (sold out). We continue to sell our Pro and Premium games to our customers.

The Walking Dead Pinball Machine was just announced on September 9, 2014. Who did you specifically work with for The Walking Dead license?
We work directly with AMC on the Walking Dead game. They are fantastic and have one of the hottest properties in existence. We feel our fans will love it!

How long has this pinball been in development and who made up the team working on it?
The team led by John Borg and Lyman Sheets along with great talents like Tanio Klyce, Mark Galvez, Mike Kizyvat, Stephen Jensen, Steve Martin and Greg Freres. The team worked over a year to get this game done. We also worked with Walking Dead producer and horror icon Greg Nicotero on our sculpts.

What are some of the most unique features of The Walking Dead Pinball?
Unique features of The Walking Dead pinball machine include zombie battles at familiar locations from the show such as the Prison and Cell Block C, a zombie-filled art package, the limited edition's (LE) fish tank with illuminated sculpted zombie heads, a motorized crossbow assembly that allows players to launch the ball anywhere in the game, the LE's mirrored back glass with exclusive art, and The Walking Dead's score and music.
