Q: What inspired the game, Moon Diver?
Strider and Osman, I would say. I believe that there should be various types of games. The play system of the 2D game has already been established and has universal appeal. It won't be changed by trends, and people will always enjoy playing it.
Q: Since you had worked on creating Strider, what influence did that have on you when going to create Moon Diver? What old-school elements will be making a comeback in Moon Diver?
The play system had already been completed in Strider. So I tried to polish the very flexible controllability of Strider as much as possible. This doesn't mean this game is a reproduction of Strider. I tried my best to create a game that has better controllability than Strider.
Q: What was the most fun part of working on Moon Diver?
Placing the enemies on the map. I had a lot of fun placing them by imagining playing the game against players.
Q: From the story, "The boy's name is Faust, and he will not stop until he has cleansed the planet of humankind and claimed it as his own." What type of abilities and weapons does Faust have at his disposal?
The boy has the power to create life. Just like the man in the past...
Q: What types of environments and enemies may one encounter though the game?
In the not-too-distant future of 2081, Barcelona was conquered by the enemies. New York has fallen into ruin, as have the mighty Atlantic Fleet and the space battlecruiser. Players will battle with various armies created by Faust.
Q: Could you tell us a little about the differences between the single player and multiplayer modes of gameplay?
Single-player mode is very austere and has a series of severe battles similar to an arcade-style game. It is not difficult to clear the game in easy mode, but it will be a very hard battle in hard mode. In multiplayer, the game gets really hectic. It can be played with up to 4 players, and all players march in to crush the steel-walled fortresses that I created. There are some special techniques and skills in multiplayer mode as well.
Q: Is there anything else you would like to add?
I created this game for the players who are big fans of the classic 2D arcade action game. Players control characters with great physical abilities, and conquer the world while battling with enemies, cannons, and landscapes. Let your kids see your performance and teach them what an action game really is. To young video game fans, please play this new game! This is such a refreshing game. Show your quick yet fluid play to veteran players!
